The history of the
San Antonio Rose Palace
#
The San Antonio Rose Palace, located at 25665 Boerne Stage Road, just outside San Antonio, has a rich history as one of Texas’s premier venues for rodeos, horse shows, western lifestyle events, and more. Originally built in 1982 by local lawyer Wayne Crocker, the facility was initially known as the Silver Rose Garden. In 1984, after a change in ownership, it was renamed the San Antonio Rose Palace.
The venue was purchased in 1998 by a group of investors led by country music legend George Strait. Under Strait’s leadership, the Rose Palace became home to his renowned George Strait Team Roping Classic, one of the venue’s most popular events. Strait’s involvement breathed new life into the facility, attracting numerous rodeos, equestrian shows, and other western-themed events.
Despite facing challenges and even temporary closures, the Rose Palace remains a beloved facility within the San Antonio community.
Today, the Rose Palace continues to serve as a vital part of Texas's rodeo and equestrian scene, with a storied past and a promising future as a venue for both local and national events.
